Author: Chautona Havig
Series: Christmas in New Cheltenham, book 4
Major Themes: Friendship
Synopsis: Crystal had come to the conclusion that she could not marry Jarod—but how could she convince him to find someone else?
I always look forward to reading a new book by Chautona Havig. I had too many other books on my “to be read” list to get to The Hearts of New Cheltenham for a few months, however, and have only now found the chance to read it. What a treat! I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even though it is more focused on romance than I usually like.
Jarod and Crystal made an agreement ten years ago. If neither of them had found someone by now, they would have a discussion about marriage. Crystal tried…over and over. She still hadn’t found Mr. Right. Jarod had not tried. Crystal, however, had come to the conclusion that she did not want to marry her best friend, the boy she had known since birth. What could she do about this?
Crystal booked a room for Jarod in New Cheltenham for a month, and located a single Christian lady there to help him find people to spend time with. When Jarod and Ellie started hitting it off, though, Crystal started wondering if she had made a horrible mistake. Would her attempt to help Jarod backfire and create a love triangle?
The Hearts of New Cheltenham is quite an interesting exploration of friendship between a man and a woman. At the same time, it shows a man trying to figure out what he really wants to do with his life, and being forced to think about his future seriously for the first time. I really enjoyed this book!
I received a review copy of this book from the author, and these are my honest thoughts about it.
WARNING: Kisses are described in chapters 10 and 13.
