Title: Induction
Author: Chautona Havig
Series: Agency Files (introduction/prologue)
Major Themes: Romantic Suspense
Synopsis: Keith had no idea what he was getting himself into when he walked into The Agency to apply for a job.
A few years ago, I got to read Chautona Havig’s The Agency Files series. Now, we have finally gotten the story of how Keith ended up in The Agency. I have not read any of her suspense stories for a good while, and had forgotten how much I enjoyed them. What a treat! I was not disappointed with Induction.
Keith had no idea what to expect when he entered the office building for an interview. Within minutes into his interview, however, he found himself in a life-or-death situation, trying to save a woman he had never seen before entering the room with her. Hours later, when they finally reached safety, he had a job.
Ramon Simon had been working for years to buy a restaurant. Now that he had nearly reached his goal, someone else had decided to pull it out from under him—and that person seemed to have nefarious motives. Suddenly, Ramon went missing.
Before he had the chance to complete training, Keith found himself guarding Ramon’s wife Anna, trying to save her life. When one thing after another went wrong, he began to wonder if any of them would escape with their lives: Anna, the other member of the agency assigned to help protect her, and he himself. Could he learn all the skills he needed while on the job?
What a story! As with all of Chautona Havig’s books, I loved the interactions between characters in Induction. I was immediately drawn into the story and did not want to put it down until I was finished, although I had to because I had other things to do than read. I did end up staying up late one night to finish it, though. If you enjoy suspense, you will want to read this book. There is more romance in it than in most of the other books in the series. I personally could’ve done without that part of it, but I really enjoyed the story anyway.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, and these are my honest thoughts about it.
WARNING: Chapter 1: Man and woman knocked out with a fire extinguisher. Chapter 11: Reference to call girls/escorts. Chapter 22: Talk about underage girls being used, girl hit in the face, description of kiss. Epilogue: Another kiss.
