I am Esther’s mother, and have been a bookworm since my mother taught me to read when I was three years old (I think she regretted that!). I was homeschooled all the way through, and started a bookstore when I was 16, which I ran for 17 years. I have been homeschooling my own children now for many years, since Esther was old enough for kindergarten – and of course, I read to her and her brothers even before that! I’m excited about this website; it fulfills a dream of mine from many years ago. After reading a few books recommending books to read to your children, I was frustrated that so many of my favorite books weren’t included, and so many books I didn’t like, were! I thought about writing my own list of books I recommended, but the busyness of homeschooling our growing family and farming got in the way. I am looking forward to seeing what happens with this website, and helping other mothers find books for their children.

I’m the one who had the idea for this website in the beginning, and Mom has been gracious enough to come along on this journey with me! She’s written a good 80% of the reviews on here, as reading is her forté and I know I’ll never keep up with her! My main job on the site is to do the technical work, whatever that entails, although I do write reviews of the books I read or listen to as well. I love sharing ideas for new titles with people!
Otherwise, I’m a twenty-something still living at home most of the time—aside from the times the Lord calls me on other adventures! I love hanging out with my family, five brothers and two younger sisters (pictured here), and going on adventures with them in our beautiful New Zealand . . . as long as said adventures don’t include canoes and white water. My dream is to one day be an author, but for now I delight myself with other people’s writing skills and try to develop my own.
