Synopsis: The Brady Street Boys seem to be closing in on Dr. Jefferson—but is he actually involved in a scandal in the small Illinois town the trail leads to?
We were excited to receive book six in the Brady Street Boys series. We’ve been looking forward to this! The entire series has been good, and the books seem to even be getting better. I have only read the first few chapters of Fire in the Feed Mill to the children so far, but I read the entire book myself so I could write this review. I’ll have to admit, I was secretly delighted to “have” to read ahead! I had a hard time putting it down.
Publisher’s description:
These youngsters are studying goodness. But have they just stumbled upon an act of evil?
Gary Fitzpatrick senses he’s closing in on the truth. So when he, his uncle, and his brothers roll into a hot Illinois town, the thirteen-year-old believes this time he’ll finally be able to speak to the doctor who amputated his leg. But before he can start his quest for answers, the teen detectives are intrigued when they spy an ambulance carrying a patient from a chocolate shop.
Learning that the victim had been poisoned by his dining partner, Gary and his brothers set to work unraveling the mystery. But as their hunt for evidence takes them across the community, the team of teenaged detectives is startled to learn that the physician they’re looking for may be caught up in the same nasty scandal.…
Can Gary and his siblings solve the case and locate the secretive surgeon?
My thoughts:
As I’ve said with each of the other books in the series, I love the way Katrina Hoover Lee has woven an engaging story with Christian values and a clever whodunit together. I have to admit that I was misled several times. I thought I had things figured out, only to come to an unexpected twist, and something else happened that I didn’t anticipate. Now, I am eagerly waiting for book seven. She managed to end Fire in the Feedmill on quite a cliffhanger!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, and these are my honest thoughts about it.
No warnings!
