Synopsis: When a builder finds a Bible inside a wall, his life is changed—but how did it get there?
The Bible in the Wall is an old classic. I remember selling this one when I had a bookstore, 20 and 30 years ago. I think I found it in the catalog of one of the vendors from whom I bought books to sell, and thought it sounded like a good story. It is!
Antonio was handed a Bible by an old woman as he passed through her village on his way from Italy to find work in Switzerland. He had no interest in the book, but took it—and then found a unique way to dispose of it. A few years later, a fire swept through the Swiss village. When another Italian man, Giovanni, came to help rebuild the town, he found a surprise in one of the walls he was demolishing: God gave him a Bible to replace the one the priest had taken from him some time before!
The Bible made a great difference in Giovanni’s life. He shared what he learned from it with everyone he could talk to. Then, he met Antonio and learned how his Bible had gotten where it was. But, would the Bible make a difference in Antonio’s life, as well, or would he continue to reject it for the rest of his life?
The Bible in the Wall, a true story, shows the influence of a Bible in changing men’s lives. It also shows how God’s Holy Spirit works to bring people to repentance. After the main story is a long poem about the Bible, and then an essay about thankfulness.
