Title: One Foot Two Feet
Author: Peter Maloney and Felicia Zekauskas
Major Themes: Counting, Language
Synopsis: This book is a combination counting book and discovery of irregular plural words.
I love this counting book! It is quite different from any other I’ve seen before. Instead of simply counting up to ten, as most do, One Foot Two Feet shows one of each item through a window in the page, then plural of that item as you turn the page. For example, One Snowman, Five Snowmen; One Octopus, Eight Octopi. This is an absolutely delightful way of learning the plurals that don’t follow the normal rules of adding “s” or “es” to words. Of course, the windows through which you can see a picture on the next page are great fun, too.
