Dial I for Identity by Chautona Havig

Title: Dial I for Identity
Author: Chautona Havig
Series: You Are on the Air, book 12
Major Themes: Identity
Synopsis: Quinn couldn’t decide which part of her personality was the real her, and Seth felt betrayed when he realized she had lied—could the radio counselor help them both figure out what to do?

I’m always delighted when I can fit a new book by Chautona Havig into my reading schedule. Last week, I got the privilege of reading Dial I for Identity, her second book in the You Are on the Air series. What a fun story! And, as with most of her books, there are some very good thoughts to mull over in this one.

Quinn Kelly, an accountant, was reliable, responsible, thorough, and very organized. She was also creative and whimsical. She didn’t think she could be both of these at the same time, so which side of her should she be? A sudden windfall gave her the opportunity to quit work and explore being both people she thought she was. Which one should she choose to be? This exploration included booking a double room at a resort with her twin—except she didn’t have a twin.

Seth Clifton, on the other hand, had trust issues. He couldn’t bring himself to trust anyone, after being let down so many times. He found himself very intrigued by the cheerful, creative young woman who had booked a room in his resort for two months. When he realized she had lied to him, he was devastated.

Meanwhile, both—sort of—had the same therapist. When Dr. Daphne figured out what was happening, she knew the two would be great together, but she also knew it takes a lot of work to get them to that point. How could she accomplish this feat?

There are some hilarious scenes in Dial I for Identity, like when Seth described a young child narrating the birth of his sibling. Or the day that Seth tried to convince Quinn that they should have two dozen children together. The part that really makes the story worth reading is where Dr. Daphne tells Quinn where her identity really needs to come from. I love this book, and anyone who enjoys romantic comedy will love it too.

I received a review copy of this book from the author, and these are my honest thoughts about it.

WARNING: Chapter 6: child describing a birth. Chapter 13: a kiss
