For the past year or two, part of our morning routine has been to read a page or two from one of the books in the Untold Secrets of Planet Earth series. We just finished Flood Fossils, which all of us found quite fascinating.

There are three sections in this book. Section one discusses Noah’s Ark and evidence for the flood. Many examples are given of ancient artwork that portrays a boat that looks like the one described in Genesis. Several pages discuss whether the Ark could have survived until now and how that would be possible. Then, there are a number of eyewitness accounts that appear to indicate that Noah’s Ark is still in existence on Mount Ararat.

Section two is the longest part of the book. This section explains how Noah’s Flood would have caused rapid fossilization and how that would happen. One part of this section talks about rock layers that appear to have been formed quickly and how that would have happened. This section also relays instances of recent, datable sediment turning into rock. Several examples show that fossilization had to happen quickly and recently. The last part of the section illustrates why the fossils had to have formed after sin entered into the world.

In section three, many examples are given as proof that fossilization can occur rapidly. Examples are given such as a petrified fence post that must be less than 150 years old, and several “petrifying wells” in England and Europe, which are well known to petrify objects within only a few years. There are also examples of carbonized items found in Pompeii, which of course are datable. The example that intrigued us the most was timber which had changed to copper. We were also quite intrigued by the table of congruencies in flood traditions from around the world. 

Flood Fossils is a beautiful coffee table book profusely illustrated with color photographs. It is an easy one to pick up and read a page or two at a time, and you will always find something interesting when you do this. This book is great evidence for creation, and refuting evolution.
