Title: The True Story of Noah’s Ark
Author: Tom Dooley
Major Themes: Noah, Flood
Synopsis: With simple but detailed text and beautiful full-color paintings, this book tells the story of Noah’s Ark and the Flood.
I love hardcover picture books with beautiful paintings that show a true story! One of our morning reads recently was The True Story of Noah’s Ark. This book ticked two boxes for us. I like to read a Bible story, and I also like to read from a book about ancient history, or science, or Creation science, especially one that has a lot of pictures.
This book begins by mentioning that we don’t know much about the world before the Flood, just that it was very wicked. God told Noah to build an ark, and the steps of building it are shown. Then, there are a number of pictures and description of what life may have been like inside the Ark during the Flood, and of what happened immediately afterward.
The illustrations are beautiful full-color paintings that nearly glow. They are lovely! The pages of this hardback book are thick and glossy, and there is one set of pages that make a long panorama that folds out of the book. My younger children have spent a lot of time studying these pictures and enjoying them. Our edition also includes a CD with the text of the book read aloud. The True Story of Noah’s Ark is a treasure to keep available for the children all the time. It’s a wonderful companion volume to The True Account of Adam and Eve.
