Synopsis: When he wants a big pancake for breakfast one morning, a little boy goes in search of all the ingredients and helps his mother make it.
A little boy wakes up hungry one morning. He wants a great big pancake for breakfast! His mother is busy, however, so he must help to make it. You need flour for a pancake, so he has to go cut some wheat and get it ground. Then, he has to get an egg from a chicken, and milk from a cow. Is he ready to make the pancake yet? After he makes the butter and fetches the strawberry jam from the cellar!
My little boys, who of course love to eat, loved Pancakes, Pancakes! They wanted me to read it to them several times while we had it from the library. I love it, too. The mother is shown working in the kitchen, and helping her little boy to learn where his food comes from and how to prepare it. Maybe your child will want to make a pancake using the recipe in the story!
