Title: Jesus Talked to Me Today
Author: comp. by James Stuart Bell
Major Themes: Angels, Faith, Miracles
Synopsis: Forty-one short stories describe people’s experiences, mostly as children, with angels and special meetings with Jesus.
I don’t normally read books like Jesus Talked to Me Today. However, I was looking through the available titles from NetGalley recently, and my four-year-old noticed this one. He thought I should read it, so I decided to give it a try. I appreciated it, even though I’m always slightly skeptical about scenarios like some of the one described in these 41 stories. However, the book states at the beginning that the stories are true.
Most of these stories relate experiences children have had with angels helping them when they were in danger. A lot talk about times when Jesus showed himself real to them. They didn’t necessarily see Him, but felt His love. A few of the stories are extra-dramatic, such as the girl who was dying of leukaemia and only a miracle could save her. There was one story I did not appreciate. It was about a girl who was baptized on Easter, and I felt like too much emphasis was put on the act of baptism. It almost seemed like power was attributed to baptism to bring salvation. Otherwise, I did not find anything I consider unbiblical.
This is a very inspiring collection of stories, that will encourage you if you doubt God’s care for you. Young people would especially appreciate it.
I received a free ecopy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
