Title: Jesus is Born
Author: Sophie Piper
Major Themes: Christmas Story
Synopsis: The Christmas story is retold, with lovely, realistic pictures.
Yes, the world abounds in picture books about the Christmas story. I really like this new one, though. The pictures are soft, but detailed and realistic. I never like cartoonish pictures, but these are my style.
I read Jesus is Born, by Sophie Piper, to my six-year-old, and he immediately asked if I could print it. He says he really likes the pictures and the story. I appreciated that it includes both the story from Luke and the one from Matthew, and makes it clear where each part of the story comes from. The story is told briefly, but clearly, without extra details. I would say that even a 1- or 2-year-old would enjoy it. I rarely buy Bible Stories, but this is one I would pick up and enjoy reading to my little ones.
I received a free ecopy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
